Power Scheduling allows you to control when Devices and screens in your digital signage network should be powered on or off automatically.

Use a Power Schedule to define regular weekly operating hours, connect Special Day Groups when different hours are needed on specific dates, and use an Override when you need to temporarily ignore the configured schedule.

What is a Power Schedule?

A Power Schedule defines when your screens should turn on and off throughout the week.

Instead of managing screen operating hours through Playlist schedules, Power Scheduling controls the power state of the Device itself.

Power Scheduling is especially useful for:

Store opening and closing hours
Reducing unnecessary screen operation
Energy saving
Managing operating hours across multiple Devices
Automatically adjusting screen operation on holidays or special dates

How Power Scheduling Works

A Power Schedule consists of three main parts:

Weekly Schedule

The weekly schedule defines your normal operating hours.

For each day of the week, you can set when screens should:

Power on
Power off

For example, screens could be configured to turn on at 08:00 and turn off at 18:00 from Monday to Friday.

Different operating hours can be configured for individual days.

Special Day Groups

Special Day Groups allow you to use different operating hours on specific dates without changing your regular weekly schedule.

They can be used for:

Public holidays
Store closures
Extended opening hours
Special events
Other exceptions to regular operating hours

When a Special Day applies, its configured operating hours replace the normal weekly schedule for that date.

Once the Special Day has passed, the Device returns to following its regular weekly schedule.

Override

Override allows you to ignore the normal Power Schedule and apply a fixed power state to the assigned Devices.

The available Override options are:

None
The Device follows the configured Power Schedule, including any applicable Special Day Groups.

ON
The Device remains powered on regardless of the configured operating hours.

OFF
The Device remains powered off regardless of the configured operating hours.

Dimmed
The Device remains powered on with reduced screen brightness.

Override can be useful when you temporarily need Devices to behave differently from their normal schedule.

When the Override is no longer needed, change it back to None to resume the configured Power Schedule.

Assigning Power Schedules

Power Schedules can be assigned to the Devices that should follow the configured operating hours.

When assigning Devices, you can:

Select one or multiple Devices
Search and filter Devices
Use Labels and Values to find specific Devices
Use Select All to assign multiple Devices at once

A Device can only be assigned to one Power Schedule at a time.

If you assign a Device that already uses another Power Schedule, its previous assignment will be replaced.

Power Scheduling and Content Playback

Power Scheduling determines whether a Device is available to display content.

Playlist and content schedules determine what should play and when, while the Power Schedule determines whether the screen should be operating at that time.

For example:

A Playlist may be scheduled to play at 20:00, but if the Power Schedule turns the screen off at 18:00, the scheduled content will not be displayed.

Power Scheduling therefore takes priority over Playlist and content schedules when determining whether content can be shown.

Common Questions about Power Scheduling

What is the difference between a Power Schedule and a Special Day Group?

A Power Schedule defines your regular weekly operating hours.

A Special Day Group defines different operating hours for specific dates, such as holidays or special events.

When a Special Day applies, its operating hours are used instead of the regular weekly schedule for that date.

What does Override mean?

Override temporarily ignores the configured operating hours and applies a fixed power state.

You can keep assigned Devices ON, OFF or Dimmed, regardless of their normal Power Schedule.

Set Override to None when you want the Devices to follow their configured schedule again.

Why is my content not playing even though the Playlist is scheduled?

Check whether the Device is currently powered on according to its Power Schedule.

If the Power Schedule has the Device powered off, scheduled Playlists and content cannot be displayed.

Also check whether an Override or Special Day Group is currently affecting the Device.

How do I use different opening hours for a holiday?

Use a Special Day Group.

Configure the required operating hours for the specific date and connect the Special Day Group to the relevant Power Schedule.

You do not need to change your normal weekly schedule.

What happens after a Special Day?

Once the Special Day no longer applies, the Device automatically returns to following its normal weekly Power Schedule.

Can I assign a Power Schedule to multiple Devices?

Yes. You can select multiple Devices when assigning a Power Schedule.

Search, filters, Labels and Values can help you find the Devices you want to assign.

Can a Device have more than one Power Schedule?

No. A Device can only be assigned to one Power Schedule at a time.

Assigning it to another Power Schedule replaces the previous assignment.

Why is my Device staying on or off instead of following its schedule?

Check the Override setting.

If Override is set to ON, OFF or Dimmed, the normal schedule is ignored.

Set Override back to None for the Device to follow its configured Power Schedule and Special Day Groups again.

Can Playlist schedules override a Power Schedule?

No.

Playlist schedules control when content should play, but they cannot cause content to display while the Device is powered off by its Power Schedule.
